Hello!

I'm Helene Moe Slinning, the Norwegian quilt pattern designer behind Scandiquilts, where traditional Norwegian crafts meet modern quilting.
Inspired by Norwegian knitwear, traditional textiles, and the landscapes I grew up with, I design quilt patterns that bring a touch of Scandinavia into homes around the world. Think bold geometric shapes, beautiful color combinations, and patterns that are just as much fun to make as they are to use.
I love finding ways to turn traditional designs into approachable quilt patterns. And while I love a beautiful quilt, I believe the best ones are made to be used, washed, snuggled under, and loved for years.
My quilting story actually began in Wisconsin. I spent a year there as an exchange student in 1996–97, and my wonderful host mom, Janine, taught me everything from cutting and piecing to hand quilting and binding. I brought my first quilt home to Norway, along with a lifelong love of quilting. You can read more about that story here.
Today, I design my patterns from my home in Tønsberg, Norway, overlooking the Oslofjord. And whenever I get the chance, I pack up a quilt (or three!) and head into the Norwegian landscape with my camera. Because quilts deserve adventures, too.
I'm so glad you're here. I hope you'll find a pattern that inspires you to make something wonderful!
Love,
