Knitty Rose is inspired by the bold, beautiful patterns of traditional Selbu mittens from Norway. This knitting tradition goes back to the 1800s, when women in the small village of Selbu turned simple wool mittens into intricate works of art.
While the famous 8-pointed star gets most of the attention, another stunning motif is the Ram’s Horn Rose — eight curling “horns” twisting together to form a flower. Knitty Rose turns this classic motif into a quilt, using only squares and a simple construction method to bring an old knitting tradition to life in fabric. Traditionally, this rose was knitted in black and white, but you can make yours any color!
